Installation & Requirements

Are your shade sheds easy to install?

Yes, absolutely! Installation of our products is incredibly easy thanks to our unique Easy-Sleeve Connector System. Our shade sheds have been designed with easy DIY installation in mind and come with full assembly details. In most cases, all you need is a drill and a ladder and you’ll be done in no time. Your kit includes clear, easy-to-follow instructions and plans to make your build as simple as possible, plus our team is always available to provide technical support during installation if you need it.

Can your shade sheds be installed on uneven ground?

Yes, they can. However, please note that this ability is dependent on the severity of the slope you want to build on. If you provide our sales team with a detailed diagram of your area, they will be able to assess the options for you and provide you with some advice.

What hold-down options do you offer for your shade sheds?

Our shade sheds and shelters are sold as a complete kit with everything you need for installation. This kit includes (depending on the size product you have purchased) the choice of three different hold-down options:

Ground anchors
Concrete piers
Saddles and bolts for a slab

For sheds under 5.9m wide, we offer all three options. However, the ground anchors are not suitable for sheds over this width, so you’ll need to use concrete piers or saddles and bolts for a slab instead.

Do I need Council approval to install your shade sheds on my property or business premises?

The answer to that question is, “it depends”. It all comes down to the specific policies of your local council and factors such as the size and placement of the shed. We always advise contacting your local council’s office to find out if approval is needed to erect a relocatable structure on your property. If you decide to proceed and obtain Council approval, keep in mind that this process will be made simpler for you when buying a shelter from QLD Shade Sheds, because all our products come with an engineering certificate and Form 15, which may be required as part of the documentation required for submissions.

How do I know which shade shelter best suits the location where I want to place a shed?

When you reach out to our team for further information or a shelter quote, we’ll ask you for your suburb to ensure we provide the most accurate and up-to-date details about what will suit you best. Australia is divided into four wind regions, each reflecting the unique windstorm conditions common to that area. Our shade shelters are designed with Wind Region Ratings, meaning they’re expertly engineered to meet the wind load requirements outlined in the Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1170:2:2021), ensuring reliable performance in any conditions. Product Features & Options

Are your sheds imported products?

No way! We are a proudly 100% family-owned Australian business, with all our shade sheds made to order using quality Australian products right here in our own factory at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Our team has more than three decades of combined experience in steel works, design and fabrication, which ensures all our products are designed and built to last.

Do you have standard sizes of shade sheds and shelters?

While yes, we do offer a variety of popular sizes for our customers to choose from, we don’t stop there. We also offer lots of customisable options to suit all client needs. There are many different widths to choose from, ranging from 1.6 metres to 12.1 metres. To ensure you have the coverage and clearance you need, we can increase length and height by 100 millimetre increments.

Do you offer a variety of colour options?

Yes, for sure! You can pick any colour you like for your sheeting and flashing from the popular Colorbond® range of 22 standard and 6 matte colours. The Colorbond hues are known for being timeless, suitable for all sorts of different architectural preferences, and long-wearing.

Do you have gutter kits available?

Absolutely, our gutter kits are offered as an optional extra that you can add to your shade shelter purchase. These gutter kits are also available in all the standard Colorbond colours so you can match them to your sheeting and flashing for a seamless look.

Can you supply extra sheets for the side walls of my chosen shelter?

We certainly can. Whether you would like one extra sheet on one side or both sides fully enclosed, we can help. We are always happy to customise shade shed orders to suit the requirements of our customers.

Can your sheds be fully enclosed?

No, sorry, this isn’t an option we currently offer. For now, we only build shade sheds with an open-ended design.

Maintenance & Support

Do your shade sheds come with any warranty coverage?

Of course! Our QLD Shade Sheds’ products are all backed by a full ten-year structural warranty to give you peace of mind. Our shelters are made from sturdy, built-to-last DURAGAL steel frames and trustworthy Colorbond sheeting and flashing, so you can sit back and enjoy your sheds for a long, long time to come. They’re also all engineer designed and certified for wind regions A through D within Australia, so they will cope perfectly with the harshest weather conditions, too.
